Does anyone know of any way to stop the cats from climbing the Christmas tree? Is there anything I can spray on the tree? I have a fake tree with lights already attached, so I hesitate to spray something on it. I know it is natural for the kitties to climb, but they are ruining all the ornaments on the tree. If neccessary i will only put up non-breakable ornaments, which will really limit what I have on the tree. Any Suggestions?????? I have 3 kitties and they believe that all these ornaments are toys just for them. I must admit, they are so cute batting the christmas balls around and playing (of course, their favorite time to do this is in the middle of the night). Any help would be appreciated.
Good Luck, I hope it works for you. We were nervous about putting up a tree, cuz we haven't done it for almost 5 yrs, so none of the animals I have now, have ever seen decorations lol, the dogs were afraid of the tree, and stayed away. It was just my rowdy 2 yr old cat that wanted to knock stuff off.
I have 3 cats, 2 of them are sisters and are 1 1/2 yrs old. The other is a little boy who is 4 months old. I also have a Chihuahua and a Yorkie. The dogs don't bother with the tree. The two older cats were pretty good last year, but this year, I swear the kitten talked them into being extra naughty around the tree. LOL.
this is my puppies first christmas also, bentley is a year old . we got him in febuary, and daisy is 4 months old so this is their first xmas tree. so far not to bad, they play under it all day long and bite on the branches and drink the water, they havnet gotton anything off the tree tho i put everything up higher and nothing down on the bottom where they can get to it . they are pretty small dogs,. but they love to bite and chase each other around the tree , they have been taking naps under the tree its very cute. i do have a old fat cat and he doesnt even mess with the tree and he never has, hes a inside cat and we have even bought him a climbing tree cat toy thingie for him to climb and he never once would get up to climb it- so we ended up giving it away. but so far ive been pretty lucky no major problems at all. just have to water the tree every day because they drink all the water. ( just plain water i normally put this stuff in that suppose to make your tree last longer but with them thinking its their water dish i havnt added anything at all to it) im sure once we put gifts under the tree that will be a diffent story- daisy our maltese/bichon mix loves to chew on paper any kind of paper. so i think i will be waiting to put gifts under it..lol
well i have a tree with the ornaments on the top half and the bottom row of branches bent down, like i have a double decker tree, (i have a fake one) because of the cats trying to walk on the bottom row. it's just a little different look for a christmas tree....newest thing in decorating.
Yes, cats and Christmas trees. I've always had a problem with my 2 cats in the tree.......Not this year. Polly (10-month old mutt), guards the tree like it's her baby. She will not let them even lay under it. Polly has never even tried to touch the tree herself, odd I thought. My tree is safe this year - yippy!
