Red is the traditional bow color for yorkies in the show ring. It seems to look great with their coloring. Also it's a very unisex color. We put bows in some of our boy yorkies/maltese/poodles unless the owner requests that we not do it. Some boy owners even ask for bows. If I had a boy yorkie, I'd still put bows in his hair. It's cute
His haircute is cute. He looks like he's growing up.

I work as a bather/assistant to a groomer. First haircuts aren't about the haircut; they're about the experience for the puppy. What matters most is that your puppy was introduced to the equipment in a non-stressful way and that he had a good time at the groomer's. The groomer I work for only does a little trimming on puppies during their first visit, nothing too complicated and nothing the puppy will find too frightening. A puppy who gets too stressed out on the first visit will grow increasingly stressed during additional visits.
I don't know what you didn't like about your puppy's cut. Perhaps the groomer just didn't do a very good job. But, if your puppy had a good time, that's really what matters most at this point.
Pink is consideredt o be a feminine color, but red is not. If you don't believe me, go to the toddler girls clothing section (any other time of the yaer other than valentines day or christmas) and try to find non pastel colors in the girls clothing. Then do the same in the boy's clothing. The boys section will be FILLED with bold rich colors... girls side? Riiighhht not so much....
As a total thread hijack....
I get so frustrated when I go shopping for Caitlin, who is a HUGE fan of the movies Cars, Superman and Spiderman. If I want to get anything with those logos on them for her, I have to go to the boys section. She's currently wearing "Superman sneakers" that were in the 'boys' section, its what she wanted, the look way cooler than the pink and white girls shoes that were all we could find in the girls shoes. What do you get in girls clothing? Dora the explorer, Tinkerbell, Minnie mouse, winnie the pooh, Bratz, and if you are veerrry lucky, Blues Clues. She is a fan of Dora and Blues but not any of the others.
They do not make girls clothing with Cars, or Spiderman, or Superman on them... I guess girls aren't allowed to like them or something.
your baby is the cutest thing ever- I dont think of red as a girl color- bentley which is my male pup has a red coach collar on- no ones every said oh look at the pretty girl- i think they just know i think red is more for boys-
and my female pup has a pink coach collar on- my dogs are both white so any color im sure would be fine and bentley does have 2 other coach collars one is blue and green adn othe other is a red and blue stripe but i just like the red one so much better- i think the bow is adorable.
i had them put a bow in daisys hair and the rubber bands they use really damage and knott in her hair very bad i wonder if its worth the cuteness for a few days to have to go threw trying to get that thng out- i got on line and bought these snap bow things that wont damage the hair- daisy is a maltese /bichon mix so her hair is long also in her face- but the snap bow works way better and no damaging hair- imho
