Ok were on a private road and when we bought this home in june there was already a plow company set up and all the home owners out here all split the cost- This plow person comes out every morning- days when i think the road is fine- I dont even know how much he charges, all i know is what its broken down to per plow- But i think that the lots that are still for sale would also have to pay equal amt since they are for sale and the colvasack that is at the end of the road where no houses are - are lots all for sale which is plowed- wouldnt you think that the owners of those lots would also have to split the cost/ Im going to pay my bill this month and ask him what he charges per plow that way i can tell if the lots that are for sale are being charged also and not just the homes that are here- I think that would be very unfair for those lots not to have to pay since they are owned and being sold and the road also has to be plowed back there if somne one was intereted in buying- And i feel that he souldnt just come out every morning i feel some one should call and say yes come out- I dont know how the other home owners feel about it but its really pricey and we were told when we bought this house that plowing was about 200 a winter- well were way over that and yes we have had a bad winter- But i feel that were this guys only income so he comes out every morning just because. We dont have a assocation here, no dues or anything like that- I dont want this guy to think im being a withc but i would like to know what he charges , and i think the owner of all these lots out here is the one that hired this guy so im thinking he isnt paying for any of the for sale lots and just the home owners are. which is unfair- Should i ask what he charges to plow this every morning? and how does he figure when he needs to come? or if he even brings out his back loader i tihnk its called its 110.00 a hour for him to push back the banks which when he did this it made a mess and looked horrable out here and pushed all the snow in eveyrones front yard and it was just the worst job ever- how should i word my letter ? How can i ask all of this with out sounding like i think im being ripped off? Do i come out and ask if the owner of all lots for sale is also being charged per plow? - I have a friend that is on a private road and they do split the cost ect- but she calls when it needs plowed and she said even the lots that are owned by ppl even if they dont have a house they are still charged since they do own those lots- If anyone has delt with private plowing and knows how this should work please let me know- I really just feel this guy is buddies with the guy we bought the house from and i think he isnt getting charged and all of us home owners are when he has like 20 lots for sale - im unsure really how many but alot- and like i said the hole half of the dead end road is his property for sale that is plowed that no one goes down because there is no homes, just property for sale- what does everyone think? theresa
Wow...I would definately check into it. They have no reason to think your being a witch just for checking into how your money is being spent. If they were being honest and fair, I don't see what the problem would be in them explaining it to you. Good luck!

I have always paid by the season not by the plow. Sounds like a bad deal to me. I would call some other companies and get an idea what they would charge. Make sure they give free estimates. Then you can compare prices. As far as being worried about making people mad... its your money you have every right to know what your paying for.
my boyfriend does plowing.you can do a flat rate per season snow or no snow you still pay per month,or you can pay each time it snows which costs more in the long run 20bucks per time around here is the norm for a two car driveway, salt is extra.ask the plow driver if you wish who pays for the other houses, your not being a witch asking if your paying for a service for someone else.you pay for his time, gas, salt and upkeep of the truck, since plowing does a number on it.200 is cheap if you live somewhere if it snows alot.i would ask around if you feel ripped off, thank god its my boyfriends second job, cause he hates going out in it.
hello again- our snow plow guy doesnt salt. I think were his only sorce of income as much as hes out here. And also me and my husband think its rude were paying him but every time he snow plows which seems to be every day needed or not he just snow blows are driveway closed at the end. Im saying weve so far paid over 200.00 this season and there are 8-9 houses here and were each paying the same amt. so hes got so far this winter season 1800 for plowing our road. So to me im thinking now that im adding this out ragous amt up im not thinking that the guy that owns all these lots for sale are out here isnt paying any part of this at all- each time he snow blows im charged 5.00 every home owner is charged 5.00 each time he comes out. so if were just counting the houses thats 45.00 each day he plows. today he was out plowing and it didnt even need it. we had a dusting and he doesnt salt or put sand down or anything just a ratty old truck with a plow- he makes 2 swipes threw one on each side of the road and doesnt do anyones personal drive way. we all snow blow- Im thinking this is outragous and im very ticked off that the guy that owns all these for sale lots isnt paying anything twards the up keep of the road since he is the one that did own all of this land and has sold each one of these houses and owns alot of common land behind us- so really i think hes the majority owner out here, and i feel he should be haivng to pay 5.00 each time also- its broken down every time he plows its devided by each of us- and it comes out ot be 5.00 but if say the guy that owns all the for sale land was paying for his 10+ lots for sale it would be way less and if he was paying his share then this guy is really charging us the hole half of the end of the road has no houses just for sale lots, so really it doesnt even need to be done since there is no houses back there just his property for sale- but it is all paved and is our road but still- the guy that owns all the for sale property hired this guy. Im going to ask him all these questions about who pays and why isnt the owner of all the property paying.I do know his name and all of that so i dont have to say guy..lol and ask him how much he charges per plow and he just comes every time it snows? i want to tell him of coarse after talking to the home owners out here that some one will call him if we need plowed- he just is making money off us by coming out when its just a dusting and some days he comes 2x- this isnt a long road either im not good with distance or anything but not long at all- i think hes a rip off and im going to write my letter and get it out and see what he says-
Why nt talk to everyone agin and maby you can all find a diffrent guy to do it. someone all of you agree on so there is no wondering if you are paying for the empty lots. If the guy at the end of the road does not have to pay then tell the plow guy (if this can be done) not to plow that far down.
If your not happy with the service then chances are others feel the same.
I'm gonna trade this life for fortune and fame I'd even cut my hair and change my name
he shouldnt be coming out for a dusting and you shouldnt pay for those lots, maybe hes a friend of the guy who owns them and yes tell him you will call when it needs done, dont pay if its under 5cm.that guy is plow happy.i dont know why he keeps coming out to plow nothing, hes just wasting gas and time and can do damage to the driveways and the blade if theres not enough snow, wouldnt pay if i could wait acouple hours and the sun melts it.
I know most mornings after a dusting hes out here at 6 am plowing and the sun comes up a few hours later and melts the snow in my drive way - but as i mentioned we must be his only clients or something- i think its way wrong and im very upset over this. He just comes out when he feels like it- and it sint eevn down to the concrete he doesnt salt or put dirt down so there is always a snow base on the road. ANd i do think that the guy thats owned all of this property and sold each house out here and still owns all the for sale lots at the end of the road ( which is a dead end) isnt paying anything- since hes the one that hired this guy i guess last year or soemting but the neighbors we did talk to say it was about 200 total for last year and weve already hit that this winter already and plus over that i think now iwth my new bill its about 250 and thats high being split with 9 other home owners, so hes making a killing out here. So if john ( the guy that owns all the for sale land ) told this plow guy to come when ever he thinks it needs it and i think that is what the deal is and from what my figures are john isnt paying anything at all to help with plowing since the hole half of the road is his for sale lots- he doesnt care how often he comes out because hes not paying for it. its just ruthless. But i am going to write a letter and ask these questions about all of this stuff. and if he does which he does seem to do this every day, why arent we on a seasonal rate instead of paying each time he comes out? when he comes out when there is a dusting and doesnt even need to be plowed and as mentioned the sun will melt it but when hes out at 6 am EVERY MORNING of caorse he doesnt give it a chance to melt. from just so far what i figured hes been paid 2,250.00 just so far and we had a late start at winter my gosh it was into january and then yes we got hit but come on this is out ragous- and im not going to let this guy keep ripping us off- So well see how he responds to my questions and also if john is paying his 5.00 per lot he has for sale- which i just cant see how he would be that would be like like 95.00 every time the freak comes out to plow- so 100 per plow so this is what makes me believe that john is not paying any part of this plowing on the property he owns am i wrong fo sujesting that john should also have to pay 5.00 per plow per lot he has for sale? since its a dead end road and its all his property back there- no one goes back there. only ppl that are looking at the property to buy it- there is one house that is unlived in and is brand new nad for sale by anther contractor and im pretty sure he has to pay his share- does it make a differnce if there is a house on the property ? if vacant he sholdnt have to help pay? This is what i dont know- but to me seems fair- that he would have to pay just like us He was out again this morning and he got NO SNOW last night but he does such a crappy job that there is always snow still on the road- but its just wrong- he really just needs to be called and i can call him since i am up at 6 am and tell him if we need it plowed or not- not just because he needs groceries that day- ughhhhh im so ticked off over this-
First I live in Texas...ie no snow. BUT I think it is insane to expect someone who owns a lot to pay for snow plowing. Afterall what benefit are they receiving? It's not like they can't get to work if no one plows in front of their lot. Get bids and talk to your neighbors see what they think.
