In lieu of the fact that the bloodlines are skewed and we cannot pinpoint whether her dam (which is also Lilos dam) or either sire is the problem child....

The breeders have no desire to make it right, with the owners of this pup, that will have to be put down at some point as it is becoming increasingly crippled by the day and more painful. The owner is heartbroken and has a child who loves the pup...

The breeders did not sign for the certified letter that the owner sent them and I heard from our mentor breeder that they have since left the state and are in West Va somewhere. Nice, huh?

Aside from the pup pictured below, the following problems have been in the pups from two litters....both from different sires.

The crippled pup which looks like it not only has a dilute gene in it (should have black on the face) but appears to be dwarfism as well.

Altho Nani is beautiful, I would be afraid of skeletons in her gene pool that would come back to haunt me down the road. Actually, I dont wish anyone the pain in what some of the owners of their puppies go thru.

So, we are spaying her as soon as she goes out of heat. My mentor breeder who knows pretty much all bullie breeders in the area, knows NaniLilos breeders well. He has given us MUCH good advice on our dogs and we never bought a dog from him and he is very educated and ethical on his breeding program as well.

It would be foolish to not listen to his advice now.

Those poor puppies! So theres nothing legally the owners can do against the breeders?
Is there anything to help the crippled pup? That breaks my heart!
At least Nani is ok now and I'm sorry things didn't work out as planned, but you have a very pretty puppy!

Btw, the breeders who sold us Lilo wanted to euthanize her!! There is nothing wrong with her and she is not in any pain.....Just that if we bred her she could pass her bite on to another pup and perhaps would not have fared as well, or had teeth growing into their palates..

Geez, Louise. I love her...she has the goofiest expressions and is a little porky and very cuddly. What a waste it would have been. I am glad I got her. Her eyes just kill me....she is so sweet.

Bogle, the breeders are on the run, didnt accept the certified letter he sent and refused to talk to him.

They were selling the DEAF pup for 1000.00!!!

There are too many bad things in the gene pool for me to be ethical about breeding. I mean, they are selling the deaf one for a grand? It should be a rescue price and GO to an experienced home, not the first 1000.00 (that someone will pay I am sure) to get a bullie.

I called the AKC and they dont care about them or their breeding practices. I got the song and dance that they do not guaruntee the health or quality of the pups.....(which I know) but do not seem to care about what the bybs are cranking out.

Sucks.

She looks like such a sweetie. Your right about AKC. I called too about Tina. She has a heart murmmer and the Wellingbrand disease. I just wanted to find out if the breeder was still breeding and they would not tell me. But, good for you for giving her a good home and lots of love. She deserves it.

My bfs parents first mini schnauzer had to be pts because of a thyroid problem. Her insides grew, but her outsides didn't? Well their breeder spayed and neutered all of her dogs, paid for the vet costs up until Pepper was pts, and refunded them their money. She then referred them to another breeder of minis and they got a pup from them, his name is Jake and hes 11 yrs now. If only all breeders would take responsibility like this one did.

TM-I'm glad that Nani is ok and she sure looks like she has a good home and a good family:)

TM, keep up the good work.
I like him a lot better than I like most people. To you he's a dog. TO me he's an adopted son who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly. I have no problem with any of these. <

I had to make the same decision about Jasmine after finally figuring out the breeder is a scum.

You are doing the right thing. And at least now, Nani wont have to deal with going into heat and all that.

I hear ya, LOR. I didn't know your breeder wasn't that great either. Did she come from the same breeder as Riley? Best gift I figure I can give to the breed is to NOT breed Nani, which is more than I can say for her dams owners.

Ugh.

Heat is sucking, for sure.

However, if my mentor breeder is still doing what he loves, I can get a pup from him yrs down the road and breed after all my other bullies are gone.

For now, gonna try and get the other two involved in agility. They need to do something, Stitch has her therapy stuff.

TM, yes they came from the same breeder. Jasmine was the "replacement puppy" for Riley because of all his issues. I always knew she wasnt the "best" breeder but I always thought she was decent. But this year she started a new "designer" mutt, springers X clumbers. YUCK. And some other things I don't agree on. I just don't trust her enough to trust her line of dogs and their health.

It does suck, and I admit, I am SO disappointed. I really wanted puppies. But Jazzy comes first.

Hugs for ya both! I'm sorry breeding didn't work out for you guys. You would be two people that I would want to see breeding.. Of course since you guys are both responsible and love your dogs you guys both made a good decision. I hope things work out for breeding sometime in the future.

Wow, Lor....your situation sounds the same as mine. Nani, too was a replacement puppy as Lilo had issues.

Far as I can tell, they are not crossbreeding, but I could see them doing it to turn a quick buck.

I really did want to breed too. There are so few Bullie breeders around here and I do love the breed.

At least we can sleep at nite, huh?

edited to add..

Ick on the clumber cross. That has to tick you off. Springers are so beautiful in their purebred state. I really dont care for the clumbers at all.

Oh no! How'd she get ahold of Clumbers? The majority of the breeders are so strict with purchasing of a puppy. :*( Poor babies, there such a good breed too...not to say the springer isn't, I almost got one a few years back, but my family owns a Clumber, he's an amazing dog. If they didn't shed so darn much I'd really have one of my own by now. :) Maybe if they'r e on a supplement they won't shed as badly..hm...

I'm not a fan of clumbers either. The mixes look like springers with very droopy eyes.

Well thats the thing, I did research on her clumbers pedigrees... they came from a puppy mill in Kansas, and their sire and dam were being auctioned off. Nice huh?

Makes me wonder where Jasmines parents came from. I just cant bring puppies into the world if I'm not 100% sure about something like that.

I am with ya there, it's why I am not breeding.

If there was one *weird* thing in the puppies AND the breeders were willing to research and figure out where it was coming from, I may have considered it.....No one can say for sure that something will not ever crop up in any breed.

But there are too many bad things in Nani's breeding pool to even chance it. I mean, they pretty much got EVERY bad thing that can happen to a bull terrier IN their breeding program.

I aint colorblind, I see the big red flags a-wavin'!! ;)

im really sorry to hear that tm and to see those pics are heartbreaking.i just hope people read what you and lor did and why you are not breeding will think twice,if they were in your shoes.sorry about nani,but nani is cute like the rest of the gang.
