I was fine with the whole thing until Poultry Science. First we had an egg embryology lab and the very last egg opened up to a baby chick (that we had to let die). The second was dissecting a chicken, no biggie...*I thought* The chickens were alive RIGHT before we did it. It grossed me out and I got sick :(
Lets see I did a cat, shark, frog, craw fish (when younger lol) and then the rat
which was torture because they had just been gassed... I was at school up north and the prof sprayed an orange smell over it (trust me when I say it didn't make it smell better) and said "just for our girl from fl" which was me... still can't smell an orange without that memory lol
yah her phrases were kind of weird..... our frogs were already dead and it did smell like popcorn but WORSE, and hearing about this is making me so interested!!!!! ok, a little question if u want to be a surgeon, do u have to do this too??? cuz, yah i know its bad, but the animals are gonna be dead, maybe alive, but when ur a surgaon u gotta lokk at the same things, and i would be siked to dissect a shark!!!!
Dissection is nothing but a lesson in cruelty! Suppliers actually breed these poor animals for the sole purpose of having kids cut into them! Not only do they kill frogs, but they kill compassion. Have the guts to speak up, don't dissect animals! There are so many alternatives out there. Such as: http://www.scienceclass.com/ They have digital dissections on many different animals. Instead of cutting up innocent animals, try ending dissection in your town. My school doesn't do dissection, and I'm proud of it!
In High Scgool I never diseccted anything in my regular bio classes... but I was also in a Vocational Agriculture Animal Science program... you learned everything needed to be a vet tech basically, while still in HS... and we disected all sorts of fauna.
I remember the uterus of a spayed dog who had puppies, a lamb, a horse leg, small animals galore...
A cat by any other name... is still a sneaky little furball who pukes on the sofa.
We were supposed to dissect frogs in 9th grade. The teacher opened the box and inside was a cow's uterus. So she dissected it for us, to find a cow's fetus inside. I was disgusted. Definatly not for me.
