I am posting this so everyone can see it, not just breeders. This is as disgusting as it gets, and I want everyone to be aware so their dogs are protected at shows!!!

>I am writing this to let you know what happened. >We were at the Harrisonburg shows over the weekend. We left to head home >on Monday, we stopped around 4:00 to x the dogs and everyone was fine. We then went >on to meet a client and pick up a dog to show around 9:30 PM. We were >tired and decided to spend the >night. We went to x the dogs and and they were dead! We did everything we could and nothing helped. We spent the rest of the night driving home. >We contacted the clients and they came out to the the house. We contacted >the insurance thru our program and the vets office. They had us bring 2 of the dogs in to be tested and have pathology done. By the time we drove >home the vet had the priliminary tests done and called us. They ruled out >carbon monoxide and they ruled out heat prostration. They did >biopsies and gastric contents to be sent off for further testing. They >wanted us to know that they felt that the dogs had been poisoned! and that >we should be aware that many of the drugs today cannot be detected and they ordered tox screens done but not to expect it to show much. Needless to say we are devastated!. ....the insurance that we carry only >covers the clients dogs and that just somehow doesn't seem to make a >difference.. .We had 7 of our dogs that were also poisoned, it was over 20 >years of work and sacrifice destroyed and we are virtually out of business >as far as our line of French Bulldogs goes!!!! Whoever did this was very >calculated in that they left the old and non-productive dogs, they are >fine, not a problem at all, It is so hard to believe that some sick individual would actually poison >these defensless animals in their own crates in their own vehicle what >sense does this make??? They never hurt anyone and could not have defended >themselves. I never even gave this a thought, I just don't think that >way...I was shocked when the Vet called!!!!! I don't know what we are going to do,,,,we need some kind of help but I >don't know what? with all of the medical bills that Mark's had over the last year and now >with this, I just don't know, I just don't know how much more we can take. My real purpose in writing was to have you send out a notice to all of the >members to be aware of what happened to us, the real story, as you know the rumor mill will be working overtime on this onw! and to put them on the >defensive and to be extra careful out there with their dogs...No one should have to go thru what we have been thru for the past 2 days and will >continue to go thru for who knows how long. We are devastated to loose >our kids and our entire breeding program but most of all our life as we >know it is gone!!! You just never even imagine that someone could do something like this. and worst of all it had to be a dog person who knew dogs and picked only the show dogs and the >breeding dogs and leave the others...How can someone be soooo cruel. I tried to call you and I left a message but I didn't know how many more >times I could repeat this story, I'm having difficulty just trying to type >it so please try to decipher it as best you can, I'm sorry if it is poorly >written, it's the best I can do right now. Thank you,
No. It actually happened. I know of the show handlers and purposely removed the names. They are the ones that originally wrote that in another forum. The show handlers of my breed all know these show handlers. I also know what dog show this just happened at. Hence the reason I posted it for everyone. It's vile!
No , unfortunately it is true. Having French Bulldogs myself, it has been posted on the Frenchie forums that i am a member of. This lady is a member of one of them. Totally heartbreaking that anyone could do such a thing. If it were any of my kids, my life would be over.
If you are a dog and your owner suggests that you wear a sweater, suggest that he wear a tail.
Dusty, do you know who the handlers I am speaking of. Don't write it here if you do, PM me. If not, that's cool too. When i read this, I actually cried. I really do not understand what has happened to us that we live in a world with this type of cruelty to animals, OR TO EACH OTHER quite fankly but that's another topic LOL
you would have to understand showing and how it's set up and where you keep dogs and stuff. Doggies pending weather elements can be put in crates, vans, etc... and back doors left open of course for air. Really though, where the dogs were and how they were left is a non issue, no doubt we all realize that.
I am trying to understand what happened. How many dogs died? She says she lost 7 of her own, but how many client dogs? And how many "old and non-productive dogs" did they also have with them?
And she says that they were poisoned "in their own crates in their own vehicle." People who are familiar with professional handlers -- help me out -- How many dogs do they typically transport at a time, and what kind of vehicle?
Not sure I understand your question, to be honest it doesnt matter how many, i really do not know. The doggies were inside their own crates inside the show handlers van and someone came and poisoned them. That's it in a nutshell.
These are top quality professional show handlers. Liscenced with the AKC and wonderful. Everything they do is correct. you're correct when you say one just needs to understand how showing works and stuff like that. This is not about the show handlers, this is about a disgusting person (people) that did something inhuman.
I simply cannot get this story out of my head. From another message board, I learned that 10 out of the 15 dogs they had with them died.
We went to x the dogs and and they were dead! We did everything we could and nothing helped. We spent the rest of the night driving home.
So it's about 10 at night, you've discovered you have 10 dead dogs in the back of your RV, and have no idea what happened to them. Will the other 5 be ok? What do you do? Do you find an e-vet, pronto? Or do you just keep driving cross-country?
Maybe I'm just picking apart the words of a distraught woman -- it is indeed a tragedy. But I hope to God what happened is not what I think happened.
I'm wondering why i can't find anything about it in any newspapers or newsrooms and that they are concerned with rumors getting started. Maybe I'll google the name of the people and see what I get. You can google some of the story and see where it was originally posted.
Hmm, i'm off to do some investigating.
and savannah - I don't get your posts either - you keep saying that a lot of the things that people are questioning "really don't matter" but we're all just really concerned about the pups and trying to understand exactly what happened.
Maybe I'm just too cynical.
