Sorry too. She was a good dog, they just did not provide me with enough info on her. Had a shot record, but was infested with fleas. I ultimately got in over my head once I got there as at first I felt sorry for her, they have 3 dogs of their own, and 5 or 6 rescues. Just a bad situation from someone who SEEMED so caring. One of those things that you walk into and just feel sick to your stomach, but somehow glad that you rescued one. Finally, her and my boy not getting along drove me mad. I guess ultimately you could say I gave into temptation, but in the end it's just me and him and that is enough for me to handle.
The neuter would be closer to 700 if I did not remove such things as laser surgery, microchip, and a few other things they threw in their. I live in Northern Virginia and am only about 20 mins from DC. Everything is expensive around here. Have a break tho, my 4th cousin is a vet a little further south than where I live and the total price not including any family discount for a neuter is only $152.50. BIG difference from NOVA, and Tidewater area of Va if anyone is familiar with it. Virginia Beach is not far from his clinic
My boy passed away Saturday Jan, 5 after being hit by a car. It feels like a bad dream, but I am honored to have memories of him even tho we were together for a short amount of time, it felt like eternity. Missing him already, just hard to imagine the daily routine without him. He wasn't even 3 yet, way too soon to leave this world. Love ya buddy!!!
He got away while I was helping my friend with his car, was up at his work when Drake ran out onto the busy road. What possessed him to do that, I don't know, he was not a roamer, there are hundreds of different scenarios I can play in my mind, none though, that could bring him back to me. Missing his "smile" now and it is definitely hard waking up and not having to let him out and also coming home for the same thing. He was with me so short of a time, but those months I wouldn't trade for anything in the world.
I am sorry for your loss. I hadn't followed the story, until today. Did you ever get him neutered? I may have missed that posting.
If he was still intact, that may be why he ran into the road. An intact male dog is sex driven and can smell a female in heat for miles away. He may have caught scent of a bitch in season and was trying to reach her.
Again, I am sorry for your loss. Enjoy the memories of him.
He was neutered back in September, shortly after all of this discussion originated. Wasn't sex driven, just a really bad habit that developed and quickly lead to tragedy. I only have good memories of him, and that's enough to block the images of him getting hit, and that stare after he was gone laying in my back seat.
