My light colored pomeranian has always had brown tear stains. I have tried everything! Then I read in a breed specific book that you should not feed food that contains dried beet pulp to light colored dogs! I found the food that does not contain dried beet pulp and what do you know, the tear stains are completly gone!!!! Try it!
Wow. That's odd. Who would even think to look for dried beet pulp in pet food? I wonder if that same concept works for cats because my white Himalayan has a messy face from tear stains and I have trouble keeping up with it.
The only time I feed beet pulp was as a supliment to my aussies when they have no weight. I had one female, that was so thin you could see every rib, she at plenty, just high metablizem (wish I had it like that lol). It is a filler and not recommened, but it is great for adding weight without side effects. On the tear stain note, as a groomer we see that all the time. We suggest a product call eye envy. Clients say it works great.
I had a bad tear staining problem with Bentley my toy poodle bichon mix and i tried everything out there even tried changing foods to get away from the beet pulp and stuff that i was told could be causing it. I did fine one product that did work and works very well and cleared his stains up over time angels glow works the best over every thing i have tried. its a powder you sprinkle on their food. I dont know what causes tear stains and why some dogs get it and some dont. I have 3 very white dogs and my maltese mix doesnt have tear stains and never has, and i have maltese that doesnt have tear staining either but my toy poodle-bichon mix gets them super bad. They all eat the same food and drink the same water. I just find it werid that one gets tear stains and the others dont.. But angels glow works the best and does really work
Is Angels glow the same thing as Angels Eyes? I just started Bandit on Angels Eyes, and I already see improvement. I also stopped giving him any colored dog treats. He loves Milk Bone treats and the box I had contained some red and green colored treats. I took them out and now only give him the brown/tan ones.
