plz help i have two male cats,
one is 3 yrs old and the other one is 7 months old, the and there both males (I know because there both neutred) the three yr old keeps mounting the 7 month old! i dont understand it at all is this ok should i stop them ?? i have a 9 yr old daughter who keeps seeing this!! what should i do ??

That's weird, I hav'nt actually seen that one before!
Are you sure the older one is neutered? Maybe the cat experts have seen this, but I've always had cats, and never seen it.Another thing to check, might be the 7 month old, is it neutered, or is it a female? Sorry if I'm asking stupid questions, but someone gave me a 'male ' kitten that the were going to shoot, and she turned up pregnant, because I did'nt look, and the vets did'nt say anything. (long haired)

I have had two male cats and one would mount the other despite the fact both were neutered. It's just one of those things. Just tell your child that it's part of cat animal behavior. If you ignore it and don't make a big deal out of it, neither will your child. I'd compare it to a dog sniffing another dog's butt. It's kind of rude to people, but not abnormal among animals.

Neutering can alter the pheremones a dog or cat emits naturally, for example some neutered dogs can smell 'attractive' or more feminine to other male dogs.

The older cat is probably showing his dominance over the younger one. Tell your daughter that the cats are "dancing", thats what my mom told me about our bunnies when I was little, and I beleived it.

Never had a cat that did that, but in dogs it's just a dominance thing, so I'd expect that's whats going on. Second possibility is that the older cat may have a slight problem with urinary tract-my male cat that had bladder stones for years developed the habit of romancing any soft bedding. The uti finally stopped, but not the habit. Might want to notice his litter pan habits.

Sometimes the vet does not get all of the balls some cats have 2 sets of balls. So if they only get one set they still feel the urge to try and be a stud. They call it proud cut it happens in dogs and horses as well. Just tell your daughter the truth that that is how cats have kittens and or get married or just be friends. This is 2008 and she needs to know if she is 9 years old. She proably already knows and is just humoring you. Anyway it is rather normal I use to be a Vet Tech. With pedifiles and all they need to know what is going on so they can protect themselves in this today world. I hope this helps I am the mother of 5, 4 grandchildren and 2 great grand children. I think kids need to know the truth and be smart and educated than innocent and vulnerable. I have a friend who has 3 Persian cats and her daughter is 9 and this cat always gets on her back like mounting her and she says it feels like a stick is in her back and their vet cannot believe it. But he is proud cut. I have seen it alot

All I can say is to check to see if they are realy neutered(and I hope they really arnt).
