One day my little cousin found a nest in my yard. I told her to leave it alone but whenever I wasnt looking shed scare the mom away and hold the egg.I got her to go inside while i stood about 50 yards away from the nest to see if the mom was there but after a half and hour the egg was a little cold so I took it from the nest.I have gathered a TON of information but i was just wondering if anyone has any tips. Thanks a lot.
I doubt there's anything you can do, other than dispose of the eggs. I personally don't feel humans can properly care for bird eggs so that they can hatch properly without the assistance of an incubator. It's a 24 hour/7 day a week job, where the eggs must be kept at a stable temperature the entire time until they hatch. If they were already a little cold, that alone may be enough to render them infertile/dead. In addition, the fact that the bird had laid only 1 egg to me indicates that your little cousin actually interrupted the mother bird when she was in the initial process of laying eggs. I"ve personally never seen a songbird nest that had only 1 egg. The bird will be fine, it'll just lay more eggs in a nest in a safer place.
Never trust a tall dwarf... he's lying about something.
