"well for gods sake , WE GET THE POINT. WE GOT IT WAY BACK AT THE BEGINNING. out of 55 posts in this thread, 36 of them are yours !! how can we not have got the point ! we are allowed to disagree. you are getting so worked up and its not going to change anyones opinion about the friggen geese ! "
Well, somebody kept telling me they didn't see my point. If you got the point, why did you keep posting? I don't know how you can not get the point, ask yourself that. I know you are allowed to disagree, and so am I. I'm not trying to change anyone's opinion, I'm stating mine. I'm hoping that maybe it will get through to some (not you) that there are more humane ways. I'm not getting worked up at all. I'm quite calm as a matter of fact. I think it is you who is getting worked up.
I'm just trying to defend my opinions, not post other people's opinions. That doesn't even make sense. I don't have "my panties in a twist" over this at all. I just don't understand why you keep bashing me.
No I don't. I've posted on that thread, a lot. It's kind of hard to have to defend you own dead dogs the same night as they died. Why do you think I'm trying to avoid "defending" them? I'm already in tears over it, and nobody even cares. I shouldn't even half to defend my own damn dead dogs!
i agree with lalayla. you dont seem too concerned for just losing your dogs tonight. if it were any of mine, i would not be here for awhile because i would be totally out of it. a complete basket case. surely not on any forum trying to convince everyone to save the geese. seems fishy to me too. and NEVER would i refer to my dogs as "damn dead dogs" . that really shows your love and compassion for them.
At 930 she started the geese post. That would have been about the time the dogs ate the grass and were rushed to the vet. But she was posting about geese, instead and made no mention of the dogs. At 10:41 she has a long post to alldogslover. That would have been when I would be worried to death that they weren't coming back. 12:08, she posts that the dogs are dead. 12:51, she gives a long list of best breeds for children. 1:57 she talks about how she enjoyed watching Crufts. Thoughout, multiple save the geese posts.
Sorry, when did you have time to cry over your dead dogs? If I came home from the vets to tell my child her dogs were dead, she would be totally incapacitated. You seemed a slightly more put out than when I break a nail.
Back to the original topic of the post, before it got petty and the OP went cut and paste happy, we have Canadian geese here in Ohio and they are cousing major problems in suburban areas. Mainly housing plats that have put in waterways for "enhancement" value...the geese poop everywhere and attack people, especially kids. They are also causing a number of auto accidents in an area by one of our malls here...the geese cross/fly over the streets at random, and they can do some pretty big damage on a car going 45mph! Anyway, they need to be controlled for the safety of them, as well as people.
OK! that entire thread was freaking scary. Almost as if, someone, not metioning any names was talking to themselves. They could make a Scary Movie 16 out of this thread. So in the words of someone wise;
I should probably leave this alone, but I just can't. I agree about the goose problem. I myself have done some goose control due to property destruction. Some of us have gardens, crops...ect. and the law allows for us to protect our property, and us country folks tend to do so. I personally don't see the big deal thinning them down. a clean/quick kill is much better than a slow suffering death like that from starvation and/or disease. I live along the Niangua river...and have all my life. I don't plan on being run off by geese, nor do i plan to push them off on someone else....it's just not neighborly.

I should leave this alone too...he,he...but I dont see a problem with wildlife management. I think they should thin some deer here in SC. Some times you have to do things that you would rather not for the benefit of others. Like euthanizing dogs in shelters..its a neccasary evil.
I agree it is something that needs to be done for the health of the overall population. When groups decide these things they don't just pick an animal out of a hat and say well this week we will kill 200 of them. They have to prove that it is in the best interest of the animal group. In Alaska and NWT they neuter the alpha male in wolf packs to prevent them from breeding should they stop this too or would you like to know why first? The wolves are picking off the cariboo, their main food source, faster than the herd can repopulate itself. If people didn't step in then the wolves would litereally eat themselves out of house and home.
Bottom line sometimes these things have to happen.
Geeze you think she would get more upset at the clubbing of baby seals, not dang geese.
