Yesterday my girlfriend and I went for a long walk around the outskirts of our neighborwood with Riley, our lab/pit mix. Towards the end of the trek, we decided to stop at the video store to rent some movies. We never tie Riley up outside of any establishment, so I waited with her as Chrisann went inside. We both sat patiently on the steps near the store.
Within 5 minutes, a man approached me and offered to buy Riley. I immediately said "no way", and he persisted with "name your price". I told him to buzz off, and he said something to the effect of "dogs are for eating...blah blah blah".
Not 3 minutes later, an older man walked up behind me and asked if Riley was mine. I said "yes", and he continued to 'enlighten' me on how I should wait until she was about "yay high" and boil her in a pot.
"Dog is reeeealllly good, you know?"
By the time Chrisann came out with the movies, I had a death grip on Riley!
Both of the men were from foreign descent...and I'm aware of, for instance, Asian tastes and practices...but it still offended me.
God! Must've been like stepping into the twighlight zone or something! I mean, we HEAR about that type of culture, but I've never actually heard of someone offering to cook your dog while your feet are firmly planted in the U.S! Jeese! I don't even know what I would do in that situation! I mean you cant very well actually kick their a$$es, as much as we'ed like to! Well, I don't know what else to say except I'm sorry. Nobody needs that- someone offering to cook their best friend.
I bet they were just screwing with you on purpose. NObody would seriously ask for someone's dog and actually TELL them they wanted to eat it.. If they really wanted it and wanted to eat it they would say their daughter just lost her dog and it looks just like yours or something like that.
Believe it or not there really are some sickos out there. I was in China town, surprise surprise somebody had a pomeranian or an american eskimo, i can't tell. And a guy actually asked the same thing, if he could eat it. He explained they eat dogs over there. The woman was creeped out as you can imagine.
My dad was in China for business, and his business partner offered him monkey brains. Gross, but true. He of course declined.
*Chinese food in America is pretty much americanized, they really do eat some gross stuff in certain parts. And, also alligators are eaten over there.

this topic comes up time and again .. what is the point of me trying to state my opinion. if people truly are interested in gaining a larger perspective on ASIANS EATING DOGS!!! OMG!!! i guess they would do so on their own.
btw sienna, alligators are also eaten in the states.
