Keep your hunches to yourself cause i alredy know what you think. I dont fight my dogs. Never have never will.
What i meant by staffs arent worth the feed is that i wouldnt have them. They arent worth the money to care for them. They are show dogs not working dogs. If they arent game i dont keep them. Thats how i run my yard. I own and breed game dogs and thats it.
Other activities means flirt pole, treadmill, a little bit of weight pull, swimming. Things to get or keep the dogs in shape. Why dont you ask before you make assumptions about people you dont even know.
Hi gunny and thank you for the warm welcome. Yes i have heard of plywood. I have even used it a few times. Have you ever heard of a dog chewing on wood. I had to tack sheetmetal to the dog houses so they wouldnt shred them.
They are show dogs not working dogs. on the contraier....I know of plenty staffie working dogs. i know a staffie with Sch3 on it. i know two of whom pull...i know they are kicking A$$ at flyball and agility.
So, the dogs are dog aggressive, which is a trait that is ultimately trying to be bred out of Pit Bull Terriers, or at least controlled, but, you choose to have gamebred Pit Bull Terriers, and force them to live on chains because of your choice to have them.
Let me guess, big heavy logging chains, for "conditioning" the dogs?
Having dogs outside is fine, my dogs live outside, they'd get restless and destructive being inside, only my older ones prefer to be inside, along with my Pom boy, but they will never be chained. Most sled dog kennels choose to chain their dogs, I do not, it is cruel and unreasonable to leave a dog on a chain it's whole life because you can't give it proper fencing, etc etc.
Having puppies outside just because you want puppies and you dont want housedogs is NOT fine, therefore, equine, do not breed. Especially since you had to come to a forum to ask how to do it. Regardless of the fact that this forum can be very informative, breeding is much to big of a responsibility to take on with getting your information from the internet.
Okay Shiggs...So the dogs chew on the wood....now I am not saying anything....but i would like to draw everyones attention over to shiggs. shiggs cannot get his dog "that do not fight" to not attack each other. even with simple methods of barriers. somehow shiggs has not found a material on this vast planet of ours capable of holding his dogs back in the kennels...he has used sheet metal on his dog houses???? well my my.. sheetmetal...hmm.... anyway. so he ties them out. so they will not kill each other. they may strangle themselves. but thats okay.

Yall amuse me. I told you before you have never seen my yard so you dont know how it looks. All my dogs have a car axel sank into the ground with the chains attached to that. The chains rotate around the axels easily and there are 2 swivels on the chain. Also they arent close enough to anything to hang themselves up. The fence line is 3 feet farther than they can reach.
No my dogs arent on heavy logging chains. I leave those in the junkyard where they belong. My young dogs are put on 1/4 inch chains and my adults are on 1/2 chains.
I know how to keep my dogs seperated. Hence the chains. Its what works for me.
Also nobody i know is trying to breed the game out of pits. Thats how the breed is suppose to be and thats the whole point of breeding to preserve the breed.
I wasnt saying that staffs couldnt work. They are mostly bred for showing. They have no game instinct. Meaning that they are completely useless for my purposes. They might be fine for you but they arent what i want.
I have a couple of dogs here who, given the chance, would kill eachother. They are seperated (until I am finished building my new kennels/runs) by very strong chainlink fencing, which a lot of people think sags in a short period of time, which is not true. Chain link keeps my dogs apart fine, I VERY RARELY have any problems with my dogs trying to get to eachother, but in the less then three times i've had problems, the fence stopped two (the other was dogs who were in the same run who had an altercation over food that was hidden by another dog and later dug up). A strong gauge chainlink fence has always worked for me and everyone I know, and it is not just the fence itself, if you don't put the fencing, gatine, and framework all together the right way, it becomes unsturdy.
Nobody who chains a dog it's whole life ever gets a puppy from me, any kennel I have offering for one of my pups who chains the rest of their dogs is turned down and given a good explination on why they were turned down. There are many risks of keeping a dog chained as opposed to keeping it loose in a run, even if you do take it off ocassionally to play with it.
Yes sheetmetal. I work in a junkyard and i get it cheap. It does the job. Fencing does not work. My male lab mix who is male agressive lost part of hos left ear through a fence. No it wasnt a pit that got him either it was a chow mix that runs around the neighborhood.
I got them because i love the breed. They are the whole package for me. Just because someone owns a hunting dog doesnt mean they use it for hunting.
First off sorry to say but pits are the only game dog. It is a term that was used to specifically describe a pits drive. Gamebred pits are dog aggressive. Yes you have you cold ones. Ones that arent game themselves but throw game pups. Game refers to the drive, the never give up attitude. A true gamebred dog will keep fighting until it is no longer physically possible.
I am not going to lie. I think pit is phyisally the best bred dog...ever. solid, strong, they have endurance. even when jack holes breed them over and over. they did not fall apart like the rotty. But it's still to bad....because people like you are the reason there are BSL's. To all the pit lovers...this is the enemy. as for a hunting dog...last i heard hunting dogs were not out to kill other dogs. there is a bit of a differnce living with a dog that want s to chase rabbits in the woods. and dogs that want to kill other dogs.
Nope. I dont fight my dogs. Wether yall wanna believe that or not its your business. This is a pet forum. Dogs are pets. I found this site and decided to drop by.
My dogs arent fought, they have never attacked anyone, i dont dress them with spikes with heavy chains around thier necks to to make them look tough. My dogs hold thier own. I dont give them a bad name. Its people who dont know or understand or have had a bad experience with them that do that. Its the people who train there dogs to be human aggressive. Or its just plain ignorance because people would be happier believing what the masses believe than to have thier own thoughts.
If people actually took the time to get to know the breed or the people who raise them they might change thier opinions. The dogmen and women around here are some of the best people i have ever met.
