While doing the dishes one day my uncle drove up in his rig. I went out there to greet him and Roy jumped out of the cap happy as can be. My uncle said that Roy was sitting by the mail box at the end of our long drive way. While talking we found out that he would jump on the gate until it would unlatch and bounce open. I made a trip to the hardware store that afternoon for lumber and a new latch and no escaping since. I count my blessings that it was my uncle that found him and not some one else.
I can't count the number of times I had to run after one or more of our cats when I saw a flying furr ball streak out the door.
Our parakeets flew around the living room for three days when the cats knocked over the cage.
As of today the only pet that has stayed where I want is Calico the goldfish. Go figure!
One day my dad's friend came to the house and my boxer Sadie escaped. She ran in between his legs and he went down the block and into the street. She almost got ran over by a car until my dad's friend caught her.
Now whenever someone is at the door she has to wear a leash and someone h as to hold her. It's a possibility and it works.
She tried running out again another day, but since she had a leash on she didn't escape.
Hello Stdogz: I am soooooo sorrry! you poooor Lady!!!!!! I know you must feel ripped apart(I know I would be) and Hey it ain't only Beagles! My mom's Poodle(yes,AKC registered Silver Male neutered Poodle!) who actually worked on our screen over time(unknown to us) and managed to over time rip open the screen and bolt through the front screen door of our home getting rides until he ended up getting a ride all the way across the huge valley we lived in!(about 45 miles wide!)He managed to puppythumb a ride with his lil butt across the valley to hangout and get picked up by a nice dog lady who thought he was gorgeous(he was!) and wanted to keep him until she saw our "LOST" ad in the paper. Yes folks, sometimes those ads DO work! All animals travel or aspire to do so. All animals are individuals just like humans are! Each dog, cat, horse, etc. is an individual with their own idiosynchracies(?)Animals and people are more alike than we like to think about sometimes.
stdogz, I am so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you. It doesn't matter what the circumstances were now.....just that you lost you beloved Bagel and you are hurting. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
My condolences go out to you and your family on the tragic death of your beloved Bagel. Please do not let any of those heartless words get to you. You loved Bagel and it was an accident ....no matter how it happened it was tragic and a life was lost. God bless you your loved ones and Bagel.
Shame on those of you who were so hurtful..and you kept badgering and badgering.. She was looking out for some compassion from strangers whom she felt would understand her heartache much more than the average person...because only pet lovers understand eachother when it comes to our beloved pets. You were rude and overlyharsh. Its too bad not everyone in this world could be as infallible as you. There is a time and a place and today was not it. Shame on you.
