Hi TP. Just wondering what brand of dog food you feed your dog(s).
My female chocolate lab loves Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance Ultra Premium--the one in the blue bag that has chicken, duck, & lamb. She does very well on it. Prior to Natural Balance, she ate Wellness and Nutro Ultra--both which she wasn't fond of.
I saw another dog food called Merrick Turducken that my dog might like to eat in the future. My dog would definitely like the taste of duck. At this time, she is well stocked with Natural Balance dry dog food and needs to finish most of it before I try her on a new dog food.
I'm curious if Merrick is a good dog food. It is listed on the good dog food list. Has anyone fed their dog(s) Merrick dry dog foods?
I know a few people have fed the canned food, dont know anyone who's willing to fork over the dough for the dry, personally. For the price of a 15 lb bag of dry merrick food, I can get two 18 lb bags of Chicken Soup dog food, which is an excellent food as well.
Oh, and we feed Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's soul, adult type.
LOL, 10 years ago I would have been proud to say I feed my dog Iams. Now, after being a member of this forum, I'm almost ashamed I ever fed my dog that stuff. I don't have the funds or time to feed my dog the raw diet (I don't even eat that well) so I feed them Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul - which I think is pretty darn good. It's not too expensive, has good ingredients, and my dogs eat every bite in their bowls. Occasionally, I'll give them raw veggies like carrots and zuchini, and on a special occasion I will mix some really lean fresh ground beef or venison with their kibble.
The wet version of chicken Soup gave Louie incredible gas, so I just stopped giving it to him altogether. I don't think he really misses it.
My female chocolate lab does best on dry dog food which I mentioned in my post. That doesn't mean though that I don't supplement her sometimes with canned food. I supplement her with canned foods and Natural Balance Turkey Roll or Lamb Roll. I cut slices off these rolls and break them into pieces for her. She must love it since she gobbles it up.
I guess since she does so well with her Natural Balance, I probably shouldn't change her to Merrick Turducken or any other Merrick when her supply of Natural Balance gets low. For one thing, I don't even know where I can find Merrick in my area. I know that JB Wholesale Pet Supplies has one of the lowest prices for Merrick plus they sometimes have sales. Even then by the time they add shipping cost, it is considerably higher than the Natural Balance I buy at PetCo. I also take advantage of PetCo's sales and discount coupons for Natural Balance. Plus, PetCo sends you a coupon for a free bag of dog food after you buy 10 bags. Not a bad deal!
Please tell me where you buy your dog foods and approximately how much you pay. Thanks.
We feed our akita puppies an organic food called "orijen". It has 70% protein in it and the puppies are thriving on it. There is no filler in it and they need to eat only half the amount as other foods.
