Last week I adopted out four puppies that I took care of since even before they were born, since I found their mom as a stray with an injured hip. I saw them being born, I kept an eye on their mom and them to ensure all of them were getting properly fed by mom. I saw them crawl, then walk, then run, gave them their vaccines, gave them their first bath, groomed them, clipped their coats for the first time, potty trained them, and now they are gone:(.
I have had two litters of puppies here. 12 puppies in all. I miss them too. I do have one with me - didnt get sold and one lives down the road. The rest I get updates on and pictures and they call me once in awhile. It is hard to let them go for sure.
"Have you ever hand raised orphaned animals before?"
No...I never raised an orphned puppy/kitten before....and if you check my last post, I was asking for advice and NOBODY told me not to do that. I feel awful he died! http://terrificpets.com/forum/45850.asp People please try to educate or investigate before passing on judgement!
I believe I've told you before how I feel about your fostering ethics. You gave your own pet away because you had no time for him after you started bringing animals upon animals into your home.
If you have no idea what you are doing, donate to shelters or volunteer. In some cases you are doing the dogs a bigger disservice, and the blame lies on no one else because they depended on your care. That is what you signed on for...
So, kind of hard not to pass judgement, or god forbid TRY to give you advice (notice how you are not listening?).
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.
Of course I do have a vet. and she told me orphaned puppies have a high risk of death. I got him the supplement as recommended and took care of him the best I could. I provoked his death by lying him down like on his back? I was not aware until now that you so harshly (as always are telling me). Why do you hate me so much?
I'm wondering why people are coming down so hard on a person who seems to have good intentions in saving orphaned animals.I read the posting on Chato too, in the first place, and he easily could have been hypoglycemic. Perhaps I'm missing something.
"The OP has on multiple occasions, only picks up off the street cute adorable dogs. Doesnt wait to find their owners, then adopts them out for a few hundred bucks.
At least one occasion she has adopted out one of her own pets because he suddenly "didnt fit in" after a multiple of years living with them.
1. You forgot to mention that I provide them with vet. care, spay/neuter/feed them/do look for their owners/report them to my nearest SPCA/take care of them if sick/deworm them/potty train them, etc.
2. what vet. condones my rescue? what are you talking about?
3. I don't just pick the cute dogs, I picked up lab x, malamute x, pitbuls, etc.
4. I also go to the pound and bail out dogs whenever I can.
I did have to give up my own dog because I did not want him being exposed to the diseases my rescues bring along with them (fleas, worms, codiccia, ticks, etc.) I know I did the right thing and I don't regret it.
6. at least I"m trying to do something about the terrible dog overpopulation in my area.
"You dont give up YOUR dog because you foster others. Thats jsut wrong.
I foster dogs, but if they in any way made MY dogs unhappy, they'd have to find another foster home. Sorry."
That's your opinion, I respect that. I feel by giving him over to a home where he is being loved and not being exposed to diseases was the best thing, that is my opinion....now you respect my opinion also. I do get to see him on a regular basis in his new home and he's doing wonderful.
