Minnie is having some eye troubles, and of course the vet has no openings until our reg. appt. What do you guys think? Under her lower lid of her left eye, the eye is red. She has been waking up with a green junk in the corner of the eye, but this morning, the green junk was liquid, not gunk. No itching, no scratching, appetite fine, water intake fine, no apparent changes... I've been wiping away the stuff with a warm washcloth whenever I see it, and I try to rinse her eye out when I get home from work (doesn't really happen, though). Is this 911 vet stuff? Vet appt. is 7/17 - hoping to make it till then.
Ewww! Wow, never heard of green before. Does she use a flea collar? Maybe she is allergic to that. Our vet doesn't "take appointments," so it's easy to ge in. Good luck! ---Allie the Chihuahua http://www.dogster.com/?41063 Wanna be pup pals?
well i think eye problems should not wait. they can get worse fast with no treatment. the redness and green gunk sound like infection and i don't think that should wait another 10 days, personally. if you can you may want to think about finding a place that can see her soon.
Ok, good news - my mom will take her for me tomorrow! yay! Minniyar - no, she's not freaking, I am. Vet appt on the 17th to restart her shot series. When we were doing all the hip stuff, and she wasn't feeling well, my vet didn't want to do the shots, in part b/c we weren't sure what was wrong with her hips. No signs of dysplasia, nothing on an xray, it was a toss up btwn a virus and a possible pulled/strained muscle. Two course of antibiotics later, she's finally starting to walk normally again. In the midst of that, she started running a fever, no shots b/c of fever. Then there was the time I had to go out of town for business and df slept through the vet appt. Needless to say, it's been a rough couple of months, slowly but surely we're getting there.
Conjunctivitis!!! If you have seen my "help" post, you will find this funny: The vet (also my neighbor) told Mom to keep Minnie away from Casey and Payton. My mom looked at her and said - give me three bottles of the eyedrops!! Getting the heartworm pill and is looking forward to coming back to the vet on the 17th for shots! (can't wait!)
It is an infection ,my dog has had it twice. All he needs is antibiotic drops or ointment for his eyes. It could be allergie related or not. But easliy fixed. Vet may want to check for corniel(sp) abrasions in case your dog has scratched it possibly looking into bushes etc.
