It's extremely dangerous to let your dog ride int he back of a truck, regardless of how 'neat' it looks when you see other people doing it. If you were to hydroplane in a puddle, or get into an accident, your dog back there would almost certainly mean it's death or at least severe injury.
People don't realize the danger they are putting their dog in by putting them in the back of the bed of a truck. You can get into an accident, make a sudden stop, be rear-ended, your dog could jump out of the truck when stopped and run into traffic. Its definitely not a wise thing to do.
I asked this to those who ride their dogs on back not the opinions about how dangerous it is im not stupid i know what can happen..........Like I said this is for people who rides their dogs on back I dont want any other opinions okay thank you
You don't put your dog in the back of a truck, simple as that. If you're not stupid, you don't do that. If you don't want different opinions then don't bother posting. Read what you wrote on both posts and see how it comes across.
Please don't let your dog ride in the back of a truck, even if restrained with a harness, it is very dangerous. I have seen way too many pets injured this way come through our hospital. Sorry, I really don't have anything positive to say on this subject.
I have owned German Shepard dogs for thirty years, and they have been riding in the back of my pick-up for thirty years. I have NEVER had one of my dogs fall or jump out or get hurt in any way. Granted, you can't just throw them in the back and take of, hoping they will stay. It starts with the "sit-stay" on the ground. Once they will maintain their stay on the ground then you move them to the back of the pick-up and be sure they can & will maintain the "sit-stay" while the pick-up is stationary. If they jump out while the pick-up is stationary DO NOT move on until they will stay for extended periods of time while stationary. NEVER tie or chain your dog in the back of the pick-up. If they jump or fall out they will hang themselves. Also, don't let your dog put it's paws on the side of the bed, if he/she does remove them and say "down" until they understand that they aren't suppose to do that. Now, this has always worked for me with German Shepards, I've never tried it with any other breed, so I'm not sure if you will get the same results. Good Luck!
people will do what ever they want regardless of the opinions of others no matter how sound the opinions are. if you want the dogs to rides in the back get yourself a large crate, secure it into the back of the truck and let the dog ride inside the crate.before you do anything save up at least 2-3 thousand dollars so when your dogs jump out of the truck as you are going down the road you will be able to pay for the veterinary treatment. it would be really ssad if you had to euthanize your dog cause you can't afford treatment that shouldn't be necessary in the first place!
scout one, best suggestion yet. All pets riding back of pick up should be in a crate. It is really a good idea for in the back of suv's or wagons also. that way if the unfortunate happens, your pet will be safe.
The only responsible way to transport any dog in any vehicle is in a crate. A crate is like a child safety seat for the dog. For your dog's safety, for your safety, and for the safety of those who share the road with you, please crate your dog.
"and stay when we go in somewhere what do we do............................. " if your dogs don't stay when you leave and they hurt someone you would be sued; or if they don't hurt someone and someone says they did you would be sued. i wouldn't leave my dogs unattended in public for anything. it's not safe.
My neighbour used to let the dog ride in the back. They used to think it was so cool and cute .What they didn't do was think ahead. The dog had no training and was not tied or crated, and one day during the summer they were out driving on a very busy road with the dog in the back. Some ladies in a convertable thought he was so cute that they said hello to the dog and waving to the dog behind the pickup. Well just as the traffic started to move the dog suddenly jumped out and was imediately killed....................But it was so cute...HELLO!
It's really cute to see a dog or dogs in the back of someones truck, especially when it's the middle of summer, 100 degrees and the dog has no shelter. I bet the truck bed (being metal and all) just fries those cute little doggie pads, too. How cute. Or how about when it's cold out. That's cute too. As far as not tying your dog in the bed of a truck, some states have a law that says you MUST tie your dog if it is in the bed of a truck. I live in an area where this law is in effect. My question is, why would you want to put the dog in the truck bed anyway? Why not have it in the cab with you so that all can see that you love your dog enough to have him/her next to you, where is is cool or warm, as the case may be?
