I agree with you...but the point is..she could have called the authorities...i have helped our one man dog warden several time to round up stays..in the middle of busy roads..fields..you name it..I am not suggestion she is evil..she most likely got in to this for the great feeling doing the right things can give..but..a policy is needed...she needs to have a better plan..thats all i am suggesting...and not all rescues are poodle mixes and cute and fuzzy...some are scabby and skuzzy and half dead..and they are all deserving..sure..she got the one..wonderfull..but make sure the other doesnt starve and get hit by a car too..if she cant take him..because of size or temperment..another rescue would..I think doing the right thing is a well thought out plan and policy...and it will take capital..sorry to say it..but money makes the world go round..so..if your rescuing and cant see the forest for the trees..and rehoming your own dogs..I would say she has bitten off a piece of the rescue pie to big to chew right now..find a group of friends...advertise in little local papers..fund raise..have bake sales in kmart..some thing..but start legamite..thats all i would like to see..like i said..i dont care if she makes it rich..i could care less..but do what is right for all concerned..her own dogs too..like i said..i have been there done that..and i got so very caught up saving lives it took my then husband to remind me that our dogs were suffering because of it..they got less attention..less space...because of keeping them seperate..and fleas and worms they didnt have before..and we were not rich people..and my fees were like 30 dollars or so..so..who was making out here..I took all dogs..and made sure the half dead didnt die alone..i live in a rural very low economical area..low budget folks are the worst..they complain about dogs and pups..throw them out the window..but dont get them fixed..so..I know the feeling..the viscious circle..I just would hope she takes things into consideration..and improves her policys to incorporate what has been brought up..if she cant handle screutiny here..i doubt she could stand up under a judge...
any way...always good to see you...i hope all is well..take care..
Then why was AC or a dog warden called. At the very least she could have attemptrd to call them for him. Instead she says if she sees him again then she will call. Thats not right for the one left behind.
she lives in LA. it is HUGE there. And there are alot of animal control issues there....and I would guess not alot of staff, or at very least not enough for every call that comes in....My gf lives in San fran and it is very bad....
In a perfect world, calls would be made, warden would get there in time (or at all) and dogs would be going thru the proper channels. The world is far from perfect.
Yeah, she could report it.....and she could have left them both.
I know if I call my dog warden for the loose dogs in my yard, they aint getting picked up....there are too many dogs and only one warden for the whole county, of which, i posted is 495 square miles...
I hardly think she was stealing someones pet that was all matted up from a long time on the streets....
Me? I thought about picking up that min pin as it ran across the road, but I didnt. As someone else said, Huron, I believe, I am not gonna endanger or infect the dogs I have at home that I do take VERY good care of....no way. My dogs come first.
We just cant save em all.....but I admire those that do try....
Good seein you too, Huron baby....I dont think we can do a play date for a while...Lilo likes to try and eat GSD's....Help me Cesar!!!
She is ONE person and can't save them all!! I can't believe that some of you sit on your bums and judge her. Like I said earlier let her learn from her mitake and be here to advice her. Not question any action YOU feel is not right. Make her first million, there goes that money ploy again, get real Huron! Maybe you can do something to help her instead of sitting here complaining and you feel so adamant about her needing a reader....buy her one and while your at it pick up a fax machine also!
Alldogs, I was totally with you until the Troy thing.
I actually PREFER larger dogs, but if I was on my way to work and was going to try and help a couple of dogs running loose, and one jumped into the car and the other was shy of me and didn't want to get close, there is no way I would try to force that dog into the car. That is a good way to get bitten! And I wouldn't stay employed long if I spent half an hour trying to coax him to come to me. So that I understand. In fact, complaining about that to me is much like complaining that I donated to a pit rescue and wanting to know why I didn't also donate to the Pomeranian rescue and the Save the Children fund.
BUT I cannot justify the Troy thing in my mind no matter how hard I think. If you had to re-home him for your own personal reasons that you didn't want to share, well, that's one thing. But to make up a story that he was surrendered to you from someone who worked too much is dishonest. It's saying that you "rescued" him, were a hero to him, when you, in fact, are the owner who is doing the surrendering. No different than if I got 10 rescues and then posted Manson up for adoption saying I saved him from a life of fighting or something so that everyone could pat me on the back for doing such a good thing. I can think of NO EXCUSE for that.
We had another member one time that rescued dogs with congenital diseases. I admired her and became familiar with her and her dogs. She came on and said one died and one was stolen, and I even talked with her on messenger about it. Then later, both dogs were found for adoption on petfinder. Those dogs were a lot of work, and I would have understood if she needed to find a new home for them, but I actually CRIED "with" her when she said the one died, and I was so hurt and angry when I found out it was all a lie. Even her situation is different from yours, though; she may have just been ashamed to tell everyone that she couldn't handle them after all the admiration she got for taking them on. Human nature is like that sometimes. But I can't make that excuse for you because you are still acquiring MORE dogs.
I'll not say any more but I won't be assuming what you write to be true, either. I do not like being deceived.
I skimmed through your various post (don't have much time..need to get to work). I did read your question about Troy.....sure he is my dog but lately with so many rescues I haven't had much time for him. I want him to go to a home where he can be spoiled, cared and taken care of as I no longer can. Is that soooo bad? So..yes...I am the owner and I am surrendering him to be adopted...whenever someone calls inquiing about him..I tell them he's my own dog but I don't have time for him. I had a few people interested but I am looking for the best possible home for him the same as for any of my rescues.
While I am glad to hear you are trying to help homeless dogs...I feel terrible for Troy. Here he has beeen treated as a cherished compain and now that you have taken up rescueing he gets casted out the door. Poor guy....Honestly I think you should keep you pet and tune down the rescueing you pet that you took in over a year ago deserves so much better then to be casted aside.
As in politics...we have different opinios here. I know that I am not going to make everybody happy with my decision but it is my life, my dog and I make my decisions based what I feel it's best. I am not CASTING him away...I am looking for a REAL GOOD home for him.
Anyway...I need to get to work....I'll check up later to see what else you guys post here.

okay. i have stayed off this post, but now i have a question. you say troy is your own dog and that you are "rehoming" him because you have too many rescues and dont have time for him ? you are casting away your own dog for ones that you are bringing in off the streets ? i am having a hard time understanding that. i also think rescuing is wonderful. but how do you know that all the animals that you are picking up , really need rescuing at all. and what are you doing as far as trying to locate the owners ? i would not only worry about diseases, but i would worry about bringing in a stray dog and him/her attacking my dogs or cats. i would never get over it if my dogs or cats were injured or killed because of some other animal that i had brought into my home.

You know I was going to stay away from this post because it really upsets me. But after doing alittle more research I have found that Troy is not the only one of "her" dogs that she has placed up for adoption.
Also Dusty I agree with you. I don't think alot of the dogs she is so called rescueing need to be rescued at all.
I saw the pics of Diva. She is a cute dog. BUT doesn't at all look as bad as she claimed. Also you don't take a dog in off the street and do what you want with it. That dog appears to be a purebred and I would almost bet there is an owner out there looking for it. Why would you put of pictures of this dog in your neighborhood when you claim you found the dog on the way to work? Do you run ads in the paper when you find dogs? I am very shocked at most of the people on this post that are supporters of this behavior. I knew something wasn't right when she found the first dog just wandering around. I have found the website of your so called rescue org. and I have forwarded it to the local SPCA. I really think they need to check out all of these "stray" dogs and see if in fact there are owners out there looking for them.
This is just 3 of many many post that I have found where you have been alittle less then dishonest.
Well I for one think she is doing a great job. As for leaving one behind I would never force a strange dog in car. You call for some one to come and pick it up but if you live in my area you may have to stand around and wait for ever if they even show up. If she feels like her dog would be better off at a new home that is her choice. I have a dog I would love to find a new home for.
Oh well some people just like to bash. There is such a thing as getting your point across with out being so rude.
Thank you for contacting the proper athorities in her area. Also if you google the number on her site you will see this person has a legal background. With that alone I find it strange she does not know all the laws in her area or how to find out the laws in her area.
So AllDogs you have over 4 personal animals. Are they all getting rehomed?

I was with ya, Alldogs, 'til I read about Troy. Doesn't matter whether you're looking for a REAL GOOD home for him, you ARE "casting him away." Your own family should ALWAYS come first. I don't care how many animals you rescue. Shame on you.
