"I'll say this for you Puppywishes, you DO know how to ellicit a response from other posters!"
I do not try to get people all worked up. I just don't think inside the box. In life I am a shy person. Really, it is one of the reasons I live in the country. I always feel rather foolish, and I do not have over blown feelings about myself.
But I do care about the under dog. I care about the one in a million and I speak up for that one.
Better safe than sorry, that is all I am wanting to say.
Some dogs do get sick, and at first their illness appears to be simple. When we learn to let the little things slide we run the risk of ending up blind to the big things.
Many of you have been here for a long, long time. So, when you see medical information being given it is just water off a ducks back.
"Bottom line is, you have expressed your opinion which is not that held by the vast majority of forum members. Again."
There are hundreds, perhaps thousands of forum members here, how bold of you to think that you know what they ALL think when only a small handful have spoken up.
And just because most people think something is right, does not make it so. There was once a time when most men believed that woman should not be allowed to vote. They were wrong. And what about slaves? Or trainers who hang dogs. These were all once considered "right" by most people.
Thank God for people who can think about change, and withstand the heat from people like you.

yeah pyr that fits lol ...... i think the only person who uses the internet to become something they aren't is the OP of this thread.
i do give out medical advice when i can. if i don't know the answer to something i am upfront and say i don't know. i don't make up some BS crap for the hell of it. i am a tech .. have been for over 20 years. if i can help someone out on here i will. that is not why i am here . i don't post what i am in each and every one of my posts to toot my own horn. i bet more then half the posters on here didn't know that and the ones that do are the longer members of this board. if i post something crappy someone else is more then welcome to call me on it. i base what i offer on what i have seen over the years. each vet i have worked for has treated different things differently so i am sure other techs have different advice to offer based on what they have seen and learned.
and your statement " vets tell employees not to offer advice on the phone" made me laugh. the emerg vet i used to work for said that because he wanted as many animals as possible to walk through his doors each night. he was the only vet i have ever heard say that.
part of what the receptionists do is decide whether animals really need to come in or if they can wait a day or so before rushing in. if they are not sure then they ask one of us or one of the doctors. if they didn;t field calls and , in essence, triage the phone calls, we would be working 24/7 because we would be so backed up with the added client load.
i know i have called my pediatrician dozens of times and have been put on with the nurse to answer my questions and be told whether i really need to come in or not. no different in my clinic or here for that matter as i can;t see through the phone either.
now pope come and clean the coffee off my monitor please LOL

Oh, gosh. I was going to ask a medical question until I read this thread. My dog usually poops twice a day, but today, she has had three bowel movements. Do you think she is sick? Should I rush her to the vet?
No Puppywishes, I did not rush my precious puppy to the emergency vet because of a single flea bite, or because his nose was moist, or because he drank some algae water. These issues have been addressed, but not on an emergency basis. A single flea bite is not going to kill him, it would actually be an issue if my dog's nose was NOT moist, and algae won't harm him, only makes his tear stains bad. I did however rush him to the vet when he started peeing excessively and I found out that there is a kidney disorder that is common in Lhasa Apso's, and excessive urine is one of the symptoms. Thankfully, it turned out to be nothing.
You have some nerve though. Why is it that we offer our experiences as a guide to others going through what might be the same thing, not to do harm to anyone's pet, but to offer support for what might be difficult or confusing for some. For every issue I've gone through, there are several others here who have gone through the same thing. I appreciate every word of advice and criticism I have recieved. Do I take every single persons advice? No, but I am just as thankful.
I just can't get over you insulting everyone here for "trying to act like an expert" when "we" don't know the whole situation, when YOU are the one that comes on here TELLING us that you are an expert, TELLING us you have a best selling book, and were on a best selling TV show. You are the one who claims to be this super-fabulous, wonderful, "best-selling", God's gift to dog training, but yet YOU told someone to put their beloved dog to sleep without knowing what is going on in that home. What kind of expert, or even novice advice is that?
You still haven't shared with us what your praiseworthy dog training techniques, that are sooooo superior to those that any of us have used, are. Why is that? If you love and care for the underdog so much, why would we have to go buy your "best selling" book to find out?
And as for my "negative self thinking," you couldn't be more off. I assure you, honey, you haven't said a single thing on this entire forum that would make me envy or be in awe of you. I, however, do not feel the need to come to an online forum and try to convince a bunch of people that I don't know how successful I am, or TELL people what I think my accomplishments have been. I don't think anyone here cares if I have been on TV, or if I write a [self-proclaimed] best-selling book on anything, or if I met the almighty Cesar Milan. No one cares, but if someone really cares that much, I'll write my own book. Its the internet, where regardless of race, income, profession, the car we drive, etc, we are all the same. You should jump off your pedestal, you've dropped plenty of bull $h!t down here to catch you!
