I think the store owner/manager just opened a big ol' can of worms. Now that s/he's allowed Max into the store. S/he has to allow anybody's dog in the store or perhaps face legal consequences regarding discrimination.
I, personally, don't feel that dogs should be allowed anywhere near food. Be it in a restaurant, grocery store or my own kitchen, but then my husband just about passes out at the sight of a hair in his food, even if it's mine or his.
Lots of people don't take care of their dogs, and the thought of buying food in a food place that allows dogs turns me off completely. We could be talkin' fleas here, people! Not to mention the liability if a pet attacks/bites someone!
I know it's against federal law for restaurants to allow pets (other than service animals) in their establishments, but I wasn't able to find anything about laws regarding pets in grocery stores (although I didn't do a comprehensive search).
That said, any food store (restaurant, grocery, convenience, farmers' market) allowing pets on the premises, should post a front-door/entrance sign to that effect. One that welcomes pets (and, while doing so, also warns those who are offended by it). Just my $.02.
I have said this before on this board dogs do not belong in grocery stores or resturants unless they are services dogs.
I understand that the manger said it would be ok. But I would hope that in the future Sienna will think ahead before she goes on such walks where she might have to go into a resturant or grocery store and leave Max at home for that walk.
Sienna even though it wasnt your fault ,people shouldnt keep picking on you about it .Whats the point of 10 different posters saying the same thing, lol! Sry again.......this is my last opinion,i promise!
As i tihnk about it , i would have brought my dog in there.Like, some people should be respectful .Its not your fault your grandmother cant go shopping without you or your mom .Basically who wouldnt bring there little baby in a store .? Although after ,maybe i wouldnt go in again.
