lmao. so people shouldnt breed with other people because they will pass down all these genetic faults to their children. but if they breed with ...say, monky's. their offspring will be healthier..............although they may be hairier and crave bananas.
that was ignorant and rude just because you bred with a monkey dont share those thought with us and people do mix all the time people from north south black white otehr countries most people are mixed
Oh I'm so glad you have a crystal ball..
now that was uncalled for alot of you "senior" members think you should be respected when you guys are some of the most ignorant people
The SPCA website doesnt have a count of purebred mix bred so that was a lie.
and if you've met alot of Golendoodles that are nuerotic what does that matter to you alot of Chihuahuas are neurotic but im not posting threads saying dont buy chihuahuas but that's what people like so let them.
They charge rediculous prices for purebred dogs such as the yorkie whatever has a bigger demand will have a bigger price
and a poo mix will give your dog more of a unique look than a briard because that is the briard standard so anybody can pick up a magazine and see one but if you have a wierd mix you might never see that look again
You are free to like, want, buy any breed, mixed breed etc. But before you go onto a forum preaching "facts" to everyone.....do the research and learn something about genetics and how they pertain to mixes before coming to a forum and making up whatever facts support your choice. Know what your getting into with a pure or a mix, and make sure you expect nothing short of great from whatever breeder you choose.
"and a poo mix will give your dog more of a unique look than a briard because that is the briard standard so anybody can pick up a magazine and see one but if you have a wierd mix you might never see that look again".
Well I guess if I was concerned with vanity and wanted a dog that looks unique for its novelty, nothing more. I would buy one. But I am not that shallow. I would rather buy a dog for it's drive, stability, both mental and physical and grip. Something the poo mixes haven't really proven. I buy dogs for thier ability to work not because they don't shed or because thier new and fluffy. I highly doubt a poo dog would be able to handle the pressure i will put on it. They just do not have the right stuff.
you know what texas ? i was not being rude, but you insist on name calling. calling people ignorant and rude is pretty pathetic coming from a person such as yourself, that is totally clueless ! i was using the monkey as an example. never said i bred with them. your remarks were totally over the line. and just to let you know. if i do ever get the urge to breed with a monkey, i will be sure to come to texas and look you up !
"The SPCA website doesnt have a count of purebred mix bred so that was a lie. "
I went onto their website, and looked at every single dog they had listed. THEY have them listed as mixed breed, or they specify ONE breed. So how am I lying, when all I am doing is saying what is actually on their website? Seems to me, YOU are the one lying, because you have absolutely nothing to back up your statement that half of their dogs are purebred. If anyone doubts this, they can look at the website as well, and see for themselves.
I think a couple of people missed one of my main points here...
The dogs being used to create these designer dogs or mixed breeds are poor examples of their individual pure bred breeds. Or let me spell it out more clearly - they are crappy examples of their breed. They often just RESEMBLE the breed they are supposed to be. If you take two badly bred dogs and breed them together you're going to get an equally badly bred dog. Show me the breeder who is using AKC champions to create their mix...
And tappetty - I'm glad you're vet feels you have a sound pup. Here's the problem - often times things like patella problems don't show up until after 1 year of age and sometimes it's after they are 2. You have to at least wait until they are full grown before you can even guess that they are not going to have joint problems. Bite problems and straight legs are the least of your problems and not where bad breeders get uneducated pet buyers. It's the people who think a nice looking 8 week old puppy means that the pup will always be healthy that allow these breeders to keep breeding.
I don't knock YOUR dog. I don't agree with BUYING mixed breed dogs. I also don't agree with buying badly bred purebred dogs.
See the point tappetty and texas are missing is that BADLY BRED dogs are the problem. It's not a mixed breed or purebred thing. Mixed breeds can be generalized because actually finding a responsible mixed breed breeder is VERY rare. YES, there are irresponsible purebred breeders - but it's much easier to find a responsible purebred breeder among the group than it is to find a mixed breed breeder. I don't recommend you buy a dog from any breeder who is irresponsible, doesn't test, doesn't know their lines, doesn't offer at least a 2 year health guarantee, and isn't active with their dogs outside of breeding (so I expect a good breeder to compete in Obedience, Agility, Herding Trials, Flyball, Hunting Trials... and/or Conformation).
And Tappetty, I'm glad you got lucky and got a dog that was a good mix of his two breeds. You could have just as easily gotten a mix of the worst aspects of both breeds. Again, like I said, it's like making trail mix, not baking a cake.
Well, i really cant say much that will make you all understand that this was my choice and the dog i wanted. I dont know as much as all of you do about breds of dogs and traits ect, all i know is what i was looking for in a pet for my family- and i like the mix of the bichon and poodle. I dont know why i perfer the mixes not all mixes . The lady that i bought my pup from has a about 5 years at this mix and hasnt had a pup come back or have any problems. So that part i knock on wood that my little guy will stay healthy. I dont have the answer you are looking for well hounding me for, is there anything wrong with just liking this mix and liking the 2 mixed together? i didnt pay thousands of dollars and i havent seen a mix that does cost thousands, which if so that is over the top but ppl are paying it so they are going to keep charging it. I didnt want a pure bred poodle - didnt really care for them and i didnt want a pure bred bichon, i didnt like fluffy hair they have i guess. i really dont know what made me want a mix but i did and i do , im not breeding and nor do i ever want to, so what does it hurt? ANd i think that poodles and bichons do look way differnt. to me anyways. Nothing i say is going to matter and i guess i cant get out what im trying to say. But im just tired of everyone bashing mix breed dogs, this forum doesnt say pure breed dog owners only but my good ness when some one posts about a mix this forum lights up like a christmas tree. Other forums arent this way at all- i go on the bichon forum and never once has anyone bashed me because bentley isnt pure bred, And it seems they would be the ones if any that had the tiff with mix breeding because its messing with their breeding standards i guess. But they are very friendly and very helpful. There are alot more mixed breed owners then you think, crap i was scared to post that i had a mixed breed for awhile after seeing what was said when some one did post . why is that? why cant everyone just except that some ppl just enjoy a mixed breed? i know i do. And i have posted that growing up i did have pure bred dogs so it isnt like i havnet and wouldnt, i just havnet found anything that i like. and now wanting a yorkie and really thinking hard if i want a pure breed or a mix going back and forth but it isnt for my reasoning its because of what ppl like this forum say. that isnt right.
Other forums arent this way at all- i go on the bichon forum and never once has anyone bashed me because bentley isnt pure bred -----------------------------------------------
To be honest, we have many mixed breed lovers here, and we do not dislike anyone for simply liking mixes. But the topic title may have been the first issue, it came off with instant attitude before anyone could even have a civil discussion: -------------------------------------------- There is nothing worng with designer dogs So why do you keep crying about it? ------------------------------------------
You go to the Bishon board starting out like that and I'm sure the reception wouldnt be the warmest there either.
And throwing around untrue facts just to try to validate your choice isnt the way to go. As I stated before you have the right to like anything you want. I own mixes myself, but as rescues and would not support the cash profit of them
